Would you like to experience Japanese culture by learning to dance while wearing a kimono? At Suehiroya, a Japanese-Western style B&B renovated from a miso factory, you can enjoy a fun experience of Japanese culture with careful instruction from a professional Japanese dance instructor.

The master dance teacher is Fujima Masami. She is the second generation master of the Fujima dance school. She started learning Japanese dance at the age of two. She will teach you how to wear a kimono and how to dance in an easy-to-understand and fun way that can be enjoyed by everyone from children to the elderly.

Jason and Teruyo, the owners of Suehiroya, will support your session. They will explain kimono dressing and Japanese dance in easy-to-understand English.

"Suehiroya" is a former miso factory that was remodeled in 2019 by an American architect with the help of local carpenters and craftsmen. It keeps it Japanese charm while being upgraded to a modern standard. It has a large common room that can be used for various events. It is located in the old town of Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture. The building is estimated to be over 100 years old. The event space opened in 2022 and the guest house opened in 2023. It is located about a 15-minute walk from JR Nakatsu Station, so you can walk there.

You can also stay overnight at Suehiroya.

This B&B is located in Nakatsu Castle Town and is exclusively for foreigners or cyclists. Jason, who is from Colorado, USA, and Teruyo, who is from Oita City, moved from Hawaii and run Suehiroya.
